BMC Student Safety & Good Practice Seminar 2005 - 08/10/2005 - 09/10/2005

This is a great opportunity for student club members and post holders of Climbing, Hill Walking and Mountaineering clubs to improve their practices and help ensure safer and environmentally sustainable enjoyment of our mountains.

During the seminar participants can find out about introducing novices to their club and there will be an opportunity to enhance personal climbing, hill walking or mountaineering skills. Past year's presentations, discussion groups and practical sessions (on the hill, crag or wall) have included:

Risk with responsibility
Legal responsibilites within a club structure
Introducing novices to your club
Event planning
Hill walking options
Club transport
Winter skills awareness
Care, maintenance and monitoring of pooled equipment
Organising overseas trips
Sources of funding
Indoor coaching
Fun bouldering and orienteering comps
Gear placement & belay management

The seminar fee is 42 per person incl VAT. Each club may send up to two representatives (post holders). Places will be allocated on a first come first served basis, please note priority will be given to clubs who have not previously attended.

(NB. The delegate fee is for the seminar only. It excludes accommodation which must be arranged by individuals.)

If you are a qualified instructor wishing to volunteer your time for the seminar then please contact Jon Garside at the BMC for further information on 0161 438 3329 / jon@thebmc.co.uk

To provisionally book your place on the seminar please complete and return Form A as soon as possible and no later than Friday 27th May 2005 to Becky McGovern at the BMC by post, fax: 0161 445 4500 or email: becky@thebmc.co.uk. Please ensure payment details are completed. Payment will only be taken if your place(s) are confirmed.
