On October 26th at 10.30 a.m. around 2200 runners will line up just outside Llanberis for the 31st Snowdonia Marathon Eryri
. The 26.2 mile route follows a course around Snowdon through spectacular scenery.
The race capacity of 2200 places filled-up within two moths of entries opening.
Event co-ordinator, Jayne Lloyd, wasn't surprised at just how quickly the event filled-up, saying:
“We have once again been overwhelmed by the demand for this event. We took almost 400 entries for the race in the first day, and though last year was fast in filling-up, 2013 has been a record breaking year. The advent of social media has really helped us, as we are in daily contact with our runners, which is so important to any event when it comes to speaking to your audience."
Jayne added: "This event means so much to the Llanberis and north Wales community, especially with the way the race has developed the event now extends into many countries and running communities. We are so proud of what the Snowdonia Marathon Eryri has done for the area over the last 30-odd years and how many people's lives we have touched."
There are also junior races for under 10, 12, 14, 16 and 18′s, age as of 1st Jan 2013.Photo: Supporters lining Llanberis High Street for the finish of the 2012 Snowdonia Marathon. © Ray Wood
