Last year's Snowdonia Marathon was voted the U.K.'s best marathon in a poll by Runners World Magazine and the 2012 event promises the same spectacular views and great atmosphere.
Event organiser, Jayne Lloyd, said: "We have so much to shout about once again this year. I can honestly say that in the eight years that I have been organising the race we have never had so much to get excited about, whether from a sporting, community, celebrity or charity stand-point."
She added: "We are seen as one of the premier marathons in the UK now, and demand for places is getting higher every year. We don't really want to grow the event much further in terms of entry numbers so we are now looking at the experience and enjoyment factor of the event."
Catch the start of the 26.2 mile race just outside Llanberis on the A4086 at 10.30 a.m. and the finish will be on Llanberis' High Street. Many of the runners will be raising money for charity and the pink competitors race numbers are a show of support for April Jones' family.
Along with being a boost to the local economy over the weekend, the event prides itself in putting something back into the local community
, and after donating £11,000 to local causes in 2012 the race has now donated over £62,000 since 2008.Note:
The Llanberis Pass will be closed to traffic from 10.00 a.m. to 11.30 a.m. and the mountain railway end of the Llanberis High Street will be closed to traffic from 12.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m.
Location: Llanberis (registration at the Electric Mountain).
