The 2012 Gold Rush MTB Challenge
is 45 km's of mountain biking involving three x 15 km laps of a course based on Coed y Brenin's Tarw Trail (classed as severe) and is a challenging ride with twisty, rocky sections and fast flowing descents. It will be fully marshaled and chip timed with the start being staggered. There is also the option of only doing two laps (approx 30 km).
The event is organised by the Maddwach Rortary Club who this year are looking to raise enough funds to purchase two specially adapted bikes for use at Coed y Brenin, as well as supporting Air Ambulance and Everyman Prostate Campaign.
Registration takes place at the new visitor centre on Saturday from 12.00 - 16.30 and Sunday 08.00 - 09.45. Entry fee - £25 for main event or - £20 (two laps). Entries close 9th March although you can enter on the day for an extra £5. You can also enter as a relay team (two or three riders doing laps between them) costing - £45/team for three laps or - £30/team for two laps.
