BMC Cymru is holding its first get together of 2010 at the Gallt y Glyn Hotel near Llanberis on February 16th, 8.00 p.m. Meetings are relatively informal with an agenda that includes an open forum and leaves plenty of time afterwards for a sociable pint. BMC members and non-members are welcome.
The Gallt y Glyn is synonymous with the finest 'Pizza and a Pint' outside of Italy and this evening is no different except on this occasion it's gratis
! You only have to pay for any toppings beyond cheese and tomato.
Two items up for debate after the recent spell of amazing winter conditions are how frozen does vegetation need to be to prevent it being damaged by picks? And whether the National Park should have made an effort to clear the Pen y Pass car park rather than just closing it in early January? For more on the issue of winter climbing and conservation considerations have a read of Elfyn Jones' informative article here
British Mountaineering Council Cymru (BMC Cymru) is the BMC's Area Group for Wales. Area meetings are: "Where local action starts and ideas get kicked about (in a friendly way). One of their purposes is to inform local climbers and walkers of developments in the wider outdoor world. They also act as a mouthpiece for the opinions of the locals in such matters as crag access, conservation issues, and national debates."
Location: Gally y Glyn Hotel, Llanberis, 8.00 p.m.
