Previously a biannual event, the Llanberis Mountain Film Festival, affectionately known as
LLAMFF, will now be a yearly fixture from next March. Mountain Equipment, one of the U.K.'s leading outdoor brands, is backing the festival as its main sponsor. Tickets are now available from
V12 Outdoor and
Joe Browns.
Festival Chairman, John Jones, said: “It’s a really exciting development to have such a top-quality and authentic outdoor company as Mountain Equipment on board. Securing their support means we can deliver the highest quality event for all concerned.”
ME Marketing Manager, Richard Woodhall, believes there is a real synergy between the values of the festival and Mountain Equipment, saying: “We are delighted to be associated with such an important and grass roots event as LLAMFF.”
The headline guest for 2010 will be
Stephen Venables, who is set to take audiences on a journey
In the Steps of Shackleton across South Georgia. Stephen was the first Briton to climb Everest without supplementary oxygen and was forced to bivouac at 28,000 ft on the descent. His first book,
Painted Mountains, won the 1986 Boardman Tasker Prize.
As well as those films short-listed for the competition, the best from those shown at the recent Banff Film Festival will also be screened. LLAMFF really is a film festival with an edge that promises its usual eclectic surprises.
