This popular event is fully booked. If you wished you had got involved be sure to sign up early for next year's Symposium. However, there are two evening lectures over the weekend that you can come along to and pay on the door.
On Saturday, Fiona Whitehead will be giving a presentation on her circumnavigation of the Falkland Islands from December last year and on Sunday evening, you can hear Alon Ohad describe his attempt to make the first circumnavigation of the Svalbard archipelago
that met an icy finish. Both lectures are at the Ucheldre Centre
in Holyhead, cost £3 and start at 7.30 p.m.
Around 150 paddlers from fourteen different countries will be attending the Symposium that is well established on the international sea kayaking calendar. Organised by Sea Kayaking UK based at Porth Dafarch it is now in its 26th year. While the main event is billed as this long-weekend, Symposium activities run over nine days up to and including the 10th May. The programme is filled with coaching, assessments, day-time lectures, classroom based workshops and plenty of time in the 'wave machines' of Penrhyn Mawr and North Stack.
