The Snowdonia Marathon is an event organised by runners for runners. It is a race big on scenery and atmosphere that is reflected in a poll undertaken by Runner's World magazine where last year's race was voted the No.1 U.K. marathon. The course guarantees spectacular views. Starting from Nant Peris (300ft), the route heads up to Pen-y-Pass (1100 ft) before winding down the Nant Gwynant to Beddgelert and turning off to Waunfawr along the Cwellyn valley. Then comes the sting in the tail: the grind up to Bwlch y Groes (1200ft) with a short section of unmetalled track before dropping down to the finishing line at Llanberis. There will also be junior races for under 10,12,14, 16 and 18 year olds with entries being taken on the day at the race HQ in Llanberis. For details click here
