The Mawddach Rotary Club with the support of Forestry Commission Wales, VLA Events (course organisation, marshalling etc), UK Results (online registration and results compilation) and Tricoaching UK (PA System, chip timing) are organising the event to raise money for Rotary charities whilst also raising the profile of the local area.
Every rider that registers will be able to 'stake their claim' to a mystery 'pot of gold' hidden on the Mawddach Gold Rush map, by simply picking the lucky plot of land that scoops the star prize. The fully marshalled course is three laps of the Tarw Trail (approx 50km total) and will be chip timed. It can be done either solo or in a relay team of two or three riders. The Tarw Trail is suited to proficient mountain bikers with good off-road riding skills.
Net proceeds of this event will be donated to the Institute of Cancer Research, Wales Air Ambulance and other Rotary good causes. The organisers say: "the event provides the unique opportunity for people to experience the ride of their life while possibly helping to save the lives of others."
Location: Coed y Brenin Forestry Commission Centre, Dolgellau.
