As in previous years, there will be demo fleets of sea kayaks and equipment from manufacturers, and suppliers including P & H, Valley Sea Kayaks, Northshore,
and IN-UIT Kayaks Ltd
have already indicated that they will be attending. We will also have two Wilderness Systems
double sea kayaks, owned by the BCU Sea Touring Committee available for use over the weekend. If you are thinking of buying a sea kayak this is an ideal opportunity to try and to compare different boats in a realistic environment.
There will be a number of practical coaching sessions available on Saturday. For those that survive there will be day trips on the Sunday, details of which will be finalised according to the prevailing weather conditions. The Lleyn Peninsula and the surrounding coastline offer a wide variety of paddling opportunities, all with the mountains of Snowdonia as a backdrop. Lectures with tales of far away places will include an account of Kierron Tastagh’s record breaking attempt for the circumnavigation of Vancouver Island and an illustrated talk on the circumnavigation of Ammassalik island (Greenland) by Mike Cockerill and Dave Evans.
